There are more than 305 million users of TWITTER worldwide of which 6.6 million reside in South Africa. Twitter has become a real time social media platform for many people allowing them to rapidly respond or inform their followers of the good and the bad. Recent events such as the Arab Spring uprising and the #FeesMustFallCampaigns use twitter to inspire and mobilize people. Everybody these days loves a great #hashtag.
It was with this in mind that Mr Price decided to use the power of twitter to drive a summer campaign to their customers. Magex South Africa now has the capability to use technology to enable twitter users to connect with their range of Vending Machines.
These machines where placed at selected sites during the summer month and allowed twitter users to “tweet for a treat”. Once the machine received the tweet customers were surprised with a voucher to enable a discounted shopping experience at their nearest MR Price.
Reports have indicated that the campaign was a major success with many customer delighted with using twitter as a way to access their favorite brand.
